Join us in “The Greenhouse” and garden for a series of hands-on classes that will inspire your creativity and expand your knowledge of growing! Whether you're a seasoned enthusiast or a beginner, there's an event tailored just for you!

Weather-Related Refund Policy

Greenhouse classes run rain or shine thanks to our fully protected indoor space. Your registration reserves a limited seat, and materials are prepared in advance for each participant. Many of our greenhouse classes include outdoor activities, and we strive to create a safe and comfortable learning environment for gardeners who are already accustomed to changing outdoor conditions. Classes will continue as scheduled in light rain, cold, heat, or other typical seasonal weather.

Refunds are only issued if the class is canceled by the instructor. If you choose not to attend due to weather or travel concerns, the registration fee is non-refundable. Please contact Brie directly with questions: Brie@BrieGrows.com

Build Your Own Low-Maintenance Succulent Planter

Impressionistic Watercolor Garden Portraits

Join us for a relaxing creative morning making art in the Greenhouse. Wilmington artist and horticulturist Katie Elzer-Peters will lead us through creating impressionistic watercolor paintings of our gardens. 

The best thing: you don't have to have ANY drawing ability whatsoever to do this project! 

Simply bring a 5x7 or 8x10 printed picture of your garden with you OR email a photo to katie@thegardenofwords.com before the workshop so it can be printed. We are NOT painting the printed picture, so it can be color or not, and on any paper you have around. It will be used as a trace!

During the class we will enjoy a sip and stroll garden tour, led by Brie while waiting for our paint to dry so we can add a few additional details to your masterpiece! 

$50 includes all materials and instruction:

Summer Foodscaping & Plant a Grow Bag Workshop

Join Brie in the greenhouse for an inspiring, hands-on summer foodscaping workshop designed to show how beauty and bounty can thrive together in your landscape. In this engaging session, you’ll learn how to seamlessly pair warm-season vegetables with ornamental plants to create vibrant, functional garden designs that deliver both visual impact and edible rewards.

The experience begins with a guided tour through Brie’s gardens, where she shares real-world examples of successful summer foodscapes and explains the plant combinations that perform best in our southeastern climate. You’ll then watch a live demonstration as Brie builds dynamic seasonal containers and garden pairings using heat-loving crops.

To wrap up, each participant will create their own custom grow bag filled with a selection of summer vegetables to take home and grow. All supplies are included, along with light snacks and beverages, making this a fun, informative, and delicious way to spend time in the garden.
